Proverbs 27:7 A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. After eating a large meal and feeling rather stuffed, if we are presented with a large, rich, and sweet desert, our stomach sometimes rebels, not desiring be be pushed over the top by some treat. Similarly, when we have been feasting on the Word of God, drinking of the Holy Spirit, and are filled up with Jesus' peace, joy, and love; things of the world and the flesh become loathsome to us.
However, when we are not feasting on the the Lord and our hearts are empty of His true nutrition, every bitter, foul and sinful thing becomes attractive to us. We wonder sometimes why something that normally wouldn't attract our attention, has captured it solidly. The simple answer is that we are not filled up with Jesus.
We as humans will always have temptation come across our plate of life, so we will never be totally free of it in this world, but if we were sitting down to a lovely meal and someone slapped a piece of raw, rotting, maggot ridden meat in front of us, we would probably lose it right there. We must see what is before us as it truly is in the eyes of God. How sad when we as a child of our Mighty and Wonderful Savior succomb to the portions of hell to satisfy our appetite. How this must sadden our Father who has provided so much good food, the manna of Jesus Christ and the clear cool river of the purifying Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 7:25-27 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; (26) For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men. (27) Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death.May we feast on the Bread of Life today!
John 6:51 "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world."
Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are oble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things. (9) The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Hey ned83 - thanks for the encouragement. The Lord has used this verse in big ways to impact my life. It's really a life verse for me. I guess because I just need to be filled with Jesus so much! I'm praying things went well with your youth! God Bless! - Jason
